Today we are going to talk about the most common roadblocks that stop people just like you from achieving your health related goals whatever they may be. Wether you want to lose weight, get in shape, have more energy, or just live a healthy lifestyle for your family the mental aspect of it all is often the hardest part. I’ve been there and I know exactly what its like, its tough but its not impossible to do. The following are the most common problems I see my clients experiencing that is holding them back from achieving their goals.
Set Yourself Some Easy Goals To Shoot For
Not setting goals is the very first problem I see people do, I was even guilty of doing this back in the day. Don’t be afraid to set a number to go after or some kind of ultimate desired result you wish to obtain. Setting a goal that is in harmony with your desired outcome will keep you on track and keep you motivated to change your habits for the better. You can also better track your results this way which is important for keeping you motivated when times get tough, and believe me they most currently do.
If you do not currently have a goal spend a few minutes and make one right now. Write it down and read it every single day until your goal becomes a reality.
Following Some Type of Program Is Key
If you were like me back in the day you might have no idea how to achieve the results you are going for which is perfectly okay, that’s why your reading this blog post right?
You need a system or some type of program to follow so that you an focus on doing the actions that are going to get you results. If you are looking to build muscle, look for a program that will show you how to do JUST that. If you are looking to lose weight by eating healthier, follow a book or course that will show you how to exactly do just that.
It seems pretty straightforward, I know, but you would be surprised how often people come to me without a defined goal and then try to do everything themselves to get their desired result. Let someone else do the research and allow yourself to just focus on action. When I first started I wanted more energy to be more productive so I read books that showed me how to do just that. Then I did what I was told and as a result I slowly overtime became an energetic person again.
Educate yourself but most importantly follow action that will get you some kind of result.
Your Environment is Everything
This is the biggest lesson that I learned and it holds true for everyone else I’ve worked with over the years. Your environment REALLY is everything. Surround yourself with people who you want to become. Stock your kitchen full of foods you want yourself to be eating. Last but not least be the person you want to be. Visualize and imagine yourself doing what you need to be doing in order to be that person, even if you are not there yet.
Your home should be a place where you can be yourself and be comfortable. If you are trying to kick the bad habit of drinking soda, then make sure it’s not in your home. You’d be amazed how much willpower you will save by not staring at that pop bottle all day. Get rid of it so that when you go to work and walk by that vending machine you an confidently say no thanks.
Visualize the person you want to be, then make your environment one that will be in harmony with that person and you will make your goals a realistic possibility to achieve.
Isn’t it Too Expensive to be healthy?
I hear people say this all the time, and too some extent it is true HOWEVER I also want to point out that a lot of us would rather spend hundreds of dollars on clothes or material possessions and then say that its too expensive to eat healthy. I get it, we are not brought up to value our health, its only until later when we are sick or dying that we realize how important our health and well being really is.
Don’t be that person like I was, start valuing your health right now. Instead of going out to dinner and spending $50 on drinks and food, take that money and buy some good quality produce and veggies that you can use to make multiple meals with and at the same time be taking better care of your body.
One of the best decisions I ever made was spending $400 on a nutritional and healthy eating course. At the time this was a lot of money for me but the value and knowledge I learned changed my life forever. Well worth the cost if you ask me. I’m not saying you have to spend that much money just think about putting more value on your health and consider if what you are spending your hard earned cash on is really worth it.
Make It as Easy as Possible to Succeed
Last but not least make it as easy as you possibly can to succeed. DO what you need to do to make your life easier. This is the smartest thing you can possible do. I know this blog post might have touched on some personal issues but we have all been there including myself. Wherever you are at in your journey don’t give up! Keep trucking along and taking it day by day but most importantly be smart. If you can do anything to make your life easier to live, then do it.
